Economists and journalists who predicted U.S. growth would hit 3% this year have taken a drubbing. They’re weren’t wrong, they just were looking in the wrong place. The 3% growth is inflation. In 2012, GOP candidate Mitt Romney claimed 47% of Americans are freeloaders. In 2016, GOP candidate Donald Trump claims 50% of Americans are moochers. That’s 3% growth. Spread over 4 years, 3% inflation isn’t so bad, only 0.75% a year — about the same as the economy’s inflation rate. (Read story here.)
