Bernie’s supporters are calling him a new FDR.
That is a terrible analogy. Roosevelt came to office with a nation in deep depression and soon at war. The country did more than elect Roosevelt as President, he was elected as the head of a dominant political party with a coalitions of office holder across the US as well as unions and ethnic groups.
Because of that coalition , because of emergencies created by the depression and by Hitler, FDR had powers a Bernie Sanders will not have.
In that sense, the ability to head a party, Hillary is a lot more like FDR. The challenge for Sanders supporters is whether he has Hillary-like skills to run the Democratic Party?
