Can you imagine having to sleep outside like this? Not enough shelters in the city, missed the hot meal, provided by the Union Gospel, laying on a ground just as cold as the air a blanket is suppose to protect you from. Constantly at risk of being robbed, harrased by the police, or worse murdered. Walking around sick, and not being able to treat it. Walking into to public places and being treated like a piece of crap for smelling bad, or looking dirty, or paying with all change. Its lonely out there, some have been done so wrong, they trust no one. Others feel like they need others to keep going, but have no one.
We have to start recognizing that there are people out here struggling tremendously. I have talked to some of these people, and you would be amazed at how many of them, did not make choices that led them to the point where they are now homeless, rather a lot of these people out on the street have been the victims of bad breaks, and some are dealing with mental illnesses that may or may not be diagnosed.
