Apparently the State Board of Education, a partisan body dominated by a Republican majority, doesn’t trust academics to know anything about the subjects they teach. So these people, who think evolution is bunk and want school children to read textbooks that refer to slaves as “workers,” voted against letting university professors review textbooks before they’re sent to public schools.
