Hawaii cop punched lesbian tourists for kissing and holding hands

A Hawaiian vacation turned into a nightmare for a lesbian couple from L.A. when a bully cop assaulted and arrested them for displaying affection in public (they kissed and held hands in a grocery store). The women, confused, called police themselves and were on the phone with a dispatcher when the cop grabbed one by the arm, punched her in the face, and threw her to the ground. Both women were charged with assaulting a police officer and held in jail for three days before posting bond, and they’ve been stuck in Hawaii for months while sorting out the legal mess. The Honolulu police department didn’t open an internal investigation of the incident until this week, after the women filed a federal civil rights lawsuit seeking unspecified damages.
