For over 40 years we have been in this city together working on issue relevant to people of color. My goal and objectives have always leaned heavily toward the Black community and i have accepted your insistence on a larger collaborative effort with third world people. But over the years I have watched you work effectively with all of those other groups to build a social service infra-structure while the African American infrastructure was crumbling. I have seen CAMP-the agency you once ran-disappear because of a person you helped take over the organization made it an immigrant
organization. I have watched you ignore black candidates over and over again in favor of candidates of other racial groups and wondered why you worked so hard for them and not for Black candidates? This election cycle you are doing it again without even addressing us about why. Finally, I cannot find anything that you have specifically championed for African Americans since you have been on the council, unless I have missed something. At what point do we demand grater accountability from those who are supposed to represent us? You have done a lot of small favors for individuals but you have no vision of the broader needs of your community, especially poor Blacks in South King County. This letter is not something I do lightly but it is past time that we called out those who are supposed to represent us and its about time you had a real conversation with the Black community. Its sad to see old friendship gradually fade but it is also life,
