i own several wolves in a big 11 acre inclosure all have been raised from birth. i do think they are something like dogs only much more intelligent and effective, as communications go. they are very affectionate and never turn on me or other people. the oldest is 11. i have taught them to sit.
however, thay are still wild, some are still shy and need a big WILD enclosure hope this helps scarlet

Spiffy answered 3 years agoI highly doubt that you can raise a wolf and have it be like a dog. It takes many generations to domesticate a wild animal; especially a vicious one like a wolf. It’s like a squirrel; if you find a baby one and take it in as a pet then some of its natural instincts might strike back through it and it might hurt you, but you can’t release it into the wild because then it won’t be able to survive.

Iris Loves Her Scent Hounds answered 3 years agoSure. It’s possible that you can raise a wolf to adulthood without it turning on you, but it’s not a good idea. Wolves are not domestic dogs in the same way that domestic dogs are no longer wolves. The wolf was domesticated over 1000’s of years and countless generations to get the pets we have today. Long story short, wild animals should never be kept as pets and ANY animal, wild or domestic, can turn on you.

ScienceFrog answered 3 years agoWolves cannot be subjugated by humans the way dogs can. It is possible to be friendly with them (like their trainers in zoos) but even then the trainer cannot actually control the wolf. This has to do with social hierarchy of packs. A wolf won’t be content with you being the head of its pack. I believe it is also illegal to raise wolves in many areas.

Corgi Admirer answered 3 years agoI wouldn’t recommend doing it and am curious to know why you’d want to.
But hypothetically, yes, it is possible. Wolves are pack animals, so if you raised one from a cub he would grow to think of you as part of his pack. However, wolves are quite different from dogs. Most of them are not as affectionate and they show their respect in quite a different way. So, they can be quite hard to raise.
Likewise, just because he won’t attack you doesn’t mean he won’t see people who aren’t part of his pack as a threat. Dogs are pack animals, sure, but their pack mentality is muddled compared a wolf.Source(s):

Nekkid Truth! answered 3 years agoits possible, but only if you are VERY familiar with canine pack structure and body language.
Wolves retain strong wild instincts.. including the instinct to be pack leader (in many species, alpha male and female reserve the right to breed- who wouldnt want to be leader!). You need to be prepared to possibly be challenged at some point, know to read the body language, and be prepared to assert your position.-

Irv S answered 3 years agoAt some point, it’s almost certain to ‘feel it’s oats’ and test your dominance over it, just as they do with pack leaders in the wild. An experienced trainer who knows what he’s doing MIGHTt handle the situation. You will likely get badly chewed up. (They don’t kill ‘family’ if they get a ‘submission’ signal. Do you know how to send one?)

John Mosby answered 3 years agoyou call the wolf an “it” ? i think you should rather stay away from them. there’s no point in doing this for you. wolves are not like other animals and they won’t attract women either. get a golden retriever.

Helen Rempel answered 3 years agoA wolf is a wild animal, even if you get it as a baby cub. Big difference from dogs, who have hundreds of years of being domesticated pets (and even some of *them* turn on their owners).

Kaper answered 3 years agoDomestication does not happen over one generation.
One major theory of how dogs came to be believes that that has already happened, they believe dogs are descended from domesticated wolves.-
