A Rohnert Park, California, cop is on on paid administrative leave after a video of his encounter with a local resident was posted on YouTube and went viral.
The video shows a police car entering the cul-de-sac where resident Don McComas was standing in his driveway, slowly circling, stopping, and then an unidentified cop gets out, draws his gun, and angrily orders McComas to take his hand out of his pocket.
McComas doesn’t take the intimidation meekly. He argues with the officer, demanding to know why the cop has pulled a gun on him, asks what crime he has committed, then tells the cop to leave. The cop eventually gets back in his patrol car and drives away.
McComas recorded the event. At one point, his video shows the cop recording him back in a mocking fashion. McComas’s video has received over 320,000 hits. City officials canceled a police department public relations event and told the media they’re investigating the incident.
