Where is the Black Proganda movement? How do we expect America to think Black Lives Matter when we are doing very little to establish that fact nowadays?
Our movies, filmmakers actors/actresses have to reflect that fact, and right now they do not. The black community had Mario Van Peebles, Spike Lee, the Hughes Brothers, and John Singleton to name a few filmmakers that made it a point to send the message that Black Lives Matter, and that there are issues in the Black community that need to be addressed.
Our mainstream music, and our mainstream artists have to reflect that fact, and right now that is not the case. We use to have mainstream artists like Public Enemy, NWA, Mc Melly Mel, Boogie Down Production, all spreading information through hip hop about what the African American community was dealing with during the mid 80s, and 90s.
Black propaganda.
Where is it? Black Enterprise, Ebony, Essence, O, we have national publications. How many of their pages are dedicated to Black Lives Matter? ESPN,BET, MTV, VH-One, how much of the shows are dedicated to promoting Black Lives Matter?
You would think that there were no problems based on what our mainstream hip hop artists choose to rap about. I say choose, because at the end of the day, even if a corporation tells one to rap about anything, that person still has a choice. Some would say, these artists need the money. We all do, but selling out ones whole community in order to get it, is not right.
Black Lives Matter all the time. Right now, our culture says that Black Lives Matter when a Black life is taken at the hands of police.
Black culture is our most important weapon in the fight against racism. How we present our Culture to the world plays a huge role in how the world views us, and it also plays a part in how much attention the Black Lives Matter movement receives nationally as well as Internationally.
If our culture does not reflect our reality, what can we realistically expect from society?
