The Donald, displeased that his fellow Republican candidates are displeased with him, lashed out Thursday by threatening to run as a third-party candidate.
“I’ll have to see how I’m being treated by the Republicans,” Trump told The Hill newspaper when asked whether he might consider an independent bid. “Absolutely, if they’re not fair, that would be a factor.”
The kicker, of course, is that …
If Trump ditches the GOP and stages a third party bid, he’d likely spoil the party’s chance of winning the general election by siphoning conservative votes away from the Republican nominee.
(Click here for story.) Meanwhile, conspiracy theories abound that Trump, who’s BFF with the Clintons, entered the race to sabotage the GOP candidate’s chances. The more damage Trump does to the GOP, the more plausible it seems. The 2016 campaign has barely begun, and Trump already is the story of 2016. Who expected that? Presidential races are always unpredictable. This time around, Republicans have the Koch brothers’ money, but Democrats have Donald Trump.
