Compliance with Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling is spotty

It’s still early in the game, and resistance is to be expected, but if foot-dragging becomes defiance then legal actions will be necessary to enforce the Supreme Court’s same-sex marriage ruling. People who violate the civil rights of others don’t change their behavior just because they lost a court case.  It’s almost certain that some states, counties, and public officials will have to be dragged into court to force them to comply, and it’s likely to be a prolonged and drawn-out fight. The ACLU and NAACP are still filing lawsuits to enforce the 1965 civil rights acts 50 years later.
