It seems Donald Trump hired actors to provide applause for his announcement (yawn) that he’s running for president.
“Watching Donald Trump’s bizarre announcement speech, you almost certainly wondered who on earth would show up to applaud Donald Trump entering the presidential race. The answer? Background actors who were getting paid $50 cash to show up. Go, Trump!
New York-based Extra Mile Casting sent an email last Friday to its client list of background actors, seeking extras to beef up attendance at Trump’s event. ‘We are looking to cast people for the event to wear t-shirts and carry signs and help cheer him in support of his announcement,’ reads the June 12 email, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. ‘We understand this is not a traditional “background job,” but we believe acting comes in all forms and this is inclusive of that school of thought.’
Sure enough, it looks like the casting company delivered. And Trump’s people delivered too, with pre-made ‘homemade’ signs and t-shirts for the newfound supporters. That’s just sad, right there. Donald Trump is worth a bajillion very classy dollars, according to his printouts, and he can’t even fill a hotel lobby by commandeering his own employees for the role? He’s got to outsource the people who clap for him?”
