Aboard the USS TR Roosevelt
A day before President Romney chose the bully pulpit of the USS TR “Teddy” Roosevelt to declare that the US had withdrawn all troops from Germany, the President learned that the new Russian government was had decided to ask Mr. Romney not to attend the funeral for Vladimir Putin.
The insult came because of statements in the now deceased will that he regarded the American President as petty bourgeois nouveau riche with no taste. That plus Mr. Romney’s refusal to serve Vodka at the White House State Dinner for Mr. Putin and the American boycott of the Sochi Olympics, left a very bad taste.
Mr. Romney none the less took the occasion the 70th anniversary of VE day to declare that we had won the war with Hitler whether the Russians appreciated us or not.
