College football player kicked off team for punching gay couple

1117_HerdRice_LB-4-600x900Marshall University fired its star running back from the team today, following his arrest for assaulting two gay men last month.

On April 5, Steward Butler observed the men kissing on a downtown street, got out of his car and approached them, and punched their faces. He was identified from cellphone video of his car tags.

The college issued a statement that,”The type of violent, bigoted behavior reported to have been perpetrated by this student is not tolerated at Marshall University.”

Marshall University is a public college located in Huntington, West Virginia.
