What is the significance of a black person becoming the top law enforcement official if they do nothing different than their white predecessors?
Loretta Lynch, a black woman, is set to become the new US Attorney General. Some black people that I have talked to about her, seem to be excited. Not sure why?
Will Lynch prosecute killer cops? Will Lynch eliminate discriminatory drug war policies? What type of system will she implement to hold police officers accountable for using excessive force? Will she make sure that slain black men like Eric Garner will receive justice?
I was reading an article that mentioned the fact that Lynch has put police officers away, during her time as a federal prosecutor. http://www.latimes.com/nation/la-na-lynch-confirmation-police-20150423-story.html According to the article in the Los Angeles Times, Lynch has a very good relationship with law enforcement, but the article makes no mention of her relationship with the black community.
Eric Holder the first black person appointed to the title of Attorney General was not able to do much. If Lynch follows in his foot steps and does nothing to stop the ongoing assault on black communities than what is the point of black people getting excited that she is black?
Will she arrest and prosecute the domestic terrorists who aimed guns at federal law enforcement officers at the Bundy Ranch?
