Syria was the laboratory ultimate test that invalided the theory of PROXY WARS in Middle East fought by local armies.

Russia, USA, Iran, Turkey, (even Arab Saudi) that are the major powers operating in the region, were not able to find their proxy partners. The Syrians of both sides, even equipped, trained and military sustained, were not able to obtain decisive accomplishments in this war.

The lack of military achievements will push the major powers to active participate in this war and to involve their ground troops. However this decision will be a nonreturnable move and a mistake: the last wars (Israel in Lebanon, Soviet Union in Afghanistan and Chechnya, USA in Afghanistan and Iraq) show that no Muslim country may be occupied for a long time by a non-Muslim army.

The “boots-on-the-ground” in Syria have to be Sunni Muslim Boots as this war, in all the complexities of interests, is also a double religious war. This is a clash between Shiia and Sunni and also a confrontation between the modern Islamic way of life and the radical ISIS Islam of the Muslim Conquest.

Who is the Muslim force that may pacify Syria? Turkey that may annex a part of Turkmenic regions? an Arab united force of the Arab league?  What will be the future of Syria? A quote from the article: “Currently two groups of nations with almost diametrically opposed objectives are involved in military actions in Syria over which the legitimate Syrian Government has no control.

The future of the nation, if it continues to exist as one, is at best bleak. The obstacles to reaching a reasonable settlement point are so many that such a situation is not even a speck in the far horizon in Syria. An extremely sad but true statement.”
