Three members of a Georgia rightwing militia charged Monday with domestic terrorism could get life if convicted of conspiring to bomb an Atlanta police station and other government offices. They also allegedly tried to recruit others to carry out similar attacks in other states. They were arrested last year after traveling to Tennessee to obtain bomb materials from undercover FBI agents. The suspects, identified as Terry Eugene Peace, Brian Edward Cannon, and Cory Robert Williams, expressed “constitutionalist” views in online chat rooms monitored by the FBI.
In a similar case, jury selection began Monday in the trial of two other Georgia militia members, Ray Adams and Samuel Crump, for plotting ricin attacks against federal buildings and employees. They also expressed “constitutionalist” views, including comments that “people had to die” to save the Constitution. They also could get life sentences if convicted.
