USAID has paid Alan Gross, a subcontractor imprisoned in Cuba for 5 years, $3.2 million to settle a lawsuit against the government by his former employer. His lawyers probably will get most of it. Meanwhile,
he’s appealing the dismissal of a separate lawsuit he filed against the government and his former employer alleging they were negligent in sending him to Cuba “without proper training, protection or understanding of Cuban laws.”
