By now you’ve probably heard that a politically charged 2-year-long investigation by the GOP-chaired House Intelligence Committee has determined that “there was no intelligence failure, no delay in sending a CIA rescue team, no missed opportunity for a military rescue, and no evidence the CIA was covertly shipping arms from Libya to Syria.” And although Ambassador Susan Rice incorrectly said the attack evolved from a protest, “it was intelligence analysts, not political appointees, who made the wrong call,” and neither Rice nor any other government official “acted in bad faith or intentionally misled the American people.”

There have been six previous investigations that all determined more or less the same thing. How much did all this cost us taxpayers? But in politics, no price is too high to pay in pursuit of a chimera that might embarrass the other party, if you can stick someone else with the bills.
