Why are articles by women cited less often than articles by men?

A study documents a gender gap in scholarly publishing.  Does anyone think this is because scholars look for papers by men?

Someone may want to ask Larry Summers?  Summers, then Summers in the hot seat the president of Harvard, suggested that innate differences between the sexes might help explain why relatively few women become professional scientists or engineers. Harvard’s first Jewish President, Summers was denounced as a Neanderthal .. showing a specist prejudice of his critics. As a descendent of Neanderthals myself, I was offended.
