When asked if Whole Foods pays its employees a living wage, a Whole Foods spokesperson, Wendy Simons, responded, “People don’t work at Whole Foods for the money. They work here out of fear; fear that they are being poisoned by the atmosphere and food supply that exists outside these walls.” Ms. Simons sympathetically added, “We don’t think of the people who work here as employees. We think of them as refugees.”
