Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) says Obama’s Ebola czar, Ron Klain, is “off to a bad start” and thinks the Surgeon General should coordinate the response. “Why not have the surgeon general head this up?” Chaffetz asked Wednesday on Fox News. “I think that’s a very legitimate question. At least you have somebody who has a medical background whose been confirmed by the United States Senate.”

There is no surgeon general. The position is vacant because the president’s nominee for the post was blocked by Senate Republicans last year. It would be nice if the Republicans some voters send to represent them in Congress would read the news once in a while, but that’s probably hoping for too much.
