A story ..
when our kids were old enough to speak their minds, we made a first trip to Boston. On the plane back we asked them where they would like to eat when they got home to Seattle. They said they wanted “Seattle food.” What? Turns out that “Seattle food” was sushi. The kids had learned sushi from Seattle’s first great sushi chef, Shiro Kashiba at his first restaurant .. On a back street south of the ID. Shiro taught the kids to eat suchi .. starting with the innocuous scrambled egg..tomago.
Now Crosscut is spreading a rumor that Shiro Kashiba, the now legendary Shiro of Seattle’s Sushi heritage, may open a new place. Having sold the high priced and vastly popular Shiro’s, Shiro-san told Ronald Holden that he is not enjoying retirement all that much and may find a new space.
“My sushi is better than my golf,” he said. “Much, much better.”
