The California Highway Patrol has agreed to pay $1.5 million to Marlene Pinnock, 51, the African-American woman shown being repeatedly punched by CHP Officer Daniel Andrew, 31, alongside a freeway on July 1 in a video made by a passing motorist that quickly went viral, following mediation of her civil rights claims. CHP also announced that Andrew, who was transferred to administrative duties after the incident, has agreed to resign. Andrew could still face criminal charges.
