The Guardian reports that Pope Francis is furious over luxury retirement flat of top Vatican official
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone’s apartment will be at least five times bigger than the Pope’s residence. He will share the flat with three nuns who will take care of his household needs. The cardinal says he is paying for the remodel out of his own funds. Good business, the church life?
The daily La Repubblica says that Bertone had received an “affectionate telephone call” from the pope expressing “his solidarity and disappointment at the attacks directed at me over the apartment”.
