Fatah and Hamas Reconcile, Agree To Recognize Israel (Which Then Walks Out of Peace Talks)
The peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority are going about as well as usual. Israel walked out of talks today after the Palestinian side announced that Hams and Fatah were going to form a joint government, presumably meaning Israel would have to negotiate with Hamas.

The logos (left) illustrate the dilemma. What is “Israel?” Hamas may be willing to recognize Israel but does that mean they are reneging on their raison d’etre that there should be ONE state west of the Jordan?
Could a Hams government change its logo? By the way, I used the PLO logo but the same outline of “Israel” is still on Fatah’s logo … one, all green, “Israel.”
UPDATE: Sat April 26.
Washington – On a phone call with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said that a unity government between Fatah and Hamas would renounce violence and recognize the state of Israel.
Abbas also signaled on Saturday that he remains committed to troubled U.S.-backed peace talks, saying that any unity government agreed with the militant group Hamas would recognise Israel.
