The Ministry of Truth was the former Oceania propaganda ministry, one of four ministries that governed the nation. The Ministry of Truth was responsible for any necessary correction of historical events using doctored historical archives to show a government-approved version of events.
As well as administering truth, the ministry spread the now popular new language called Newspeak, in which, for example, “truth” is understood to mean statements like 2 + 2 = 4 a the situation warrants.
In Newspeak, the ministry was known as Minitrue just as the building now houses Comcat, UK also known as Britcom.
