The Philippine government sent a ship through the blockade placed by the Chinese coast guard around an island off the Philipines’ coast. The ship brought food and fresh troops to a marooned navy ship the Philippines uses as a base to secure their claim to the islands located over thousand miles from China’s own southernmost Hainan Island.
China’s exercise of imperial power is in some ways worse than Putins invasion of Crimea. China’s claims are purely hegmonistic. The Imperium of China does not have any historic basis and there certainly are not ethnic Chinese living on the island’s.
A Chinese coast guard ship marked “1141” twice crossed the bow of the smaller Philippine vessel and radioed in English “You will take full responsibility for the consequences of your action,” The Filipino ship responded “This is the Republic of the Philippines,” “We are here to provision the troops.”
Journalists said a plane with U.S. Navy markings also flew above the marooned ship.
