Today is one month before April 19, 1945, 11 days after my father entered Buchenwald to give medical care. The camp had already been liberated by communist political prisoners before any allied forces arrived.
Even after the camp was officially liberated by US forces, Jews were still segregated. The liberated political prisoners constructed an obelisk to honor of the victims.
