Clinton puts the denialists above the reality
He could help everyone if he condemns the young denialists … the young people, spurred by the Republicans, whose existing plans need to be replaced. These young denialists think they would save $$ if they did not need to buy new policies. Clinton cites a young person’s reasoning that after all he will not get sick!
if Clinton were not so self serving, he could have explained to this young man …and to the reporter .. that INSURANCE is an investment in the POSSIBILITY you may get sick. The policy the young denialist had, according to Clinton, had very high co pays. Clinton should have asked the young man, about the millions of young people who clog our ERs because their “insurance” does not cover their needs when they do get sick, about the hospitals who eat the costs of failure of these people to pay after they are put into bankruptcy.
One reason I was never a Clinton supporter was this sort of self serving policy. Even before he literally screwed up his presidency, Clinton was all too willing to lead policy changes that made him look good but did not achieve the goals he could have achieved.
History will treat his bright man poorly. He inherited a huge opportunity and wasted it. I hope tis is not a prelude to Hillary, 2017-2021. She needs to do better .. she needs to combine the intellect and honesty of Obama with the political forcefulness of her faulty hubby.
