While I do not know if there is any relationship, a commentator on THE Ave suggested that because I am (truly) obese and known as more than a bit of a slob, I should adopt the Hamburglar as a new logo for the Ave. 
I decided against this because I do not look anything like the Hamburglar. 
The comments did make me look on the web for other mascots that might look like me … one I saw was “Billiken.”  From the Wiki, he looks like me … fat, bald, and contemplating his toes.  Billiken is more successful than I.  He  enjoys worldwide celebrity as the mascot of Saint Louis University.  The school’s athletic teams remain the Billikens and a statue of the Billiken stands in front of the Arena on the Saint Louis University Campus.

I don’t think Billikens fits THE Ave very well.  He looks elfish or babyish, neither of which fits me or, for that matter THE Ave. After all we are a pub and our virtual beer(TM) is our most popular product! I do not think the ties to the babyish statue of an immature person named Bill would work for us.

I did make an effort.  I went to the Wiki, downloaded Billikens and tried to make him look more …professorial. I removes his spiky hairdo, added glasses and a moustache.   The result (I call it Billikens to distinguish it from the original) is kind of like me … it looks rather serious. It certainly ought not to offend anyone who thinks THE Ave is too critical of the UW!

It does seem a bit unfair to Saint Louis University!   Maybe I will keep Billikens as a logo for some future Ave editor?  Comments about his becoming our Ave logo are welcome.
