Sex is still #1

There was a discovery made recently at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. It set out to discover the true depths of what makes us happy as human beings.

The intellect behind this research, the happily named Carsten Grimm, decided to use text messaging to delve into people’s inner triggers.

He told the Daily Mail: “I texted people three times a day over a week and the response rate was really high.”

Perhaps surprisingly, 97 percent of people replied to his texts which he sent out at random times throughout the day. This was as live an experiment as you could get.

No doubt you’ll be wondering that the results were. Well, the No. 1 activity that makes people happy is – gird yourself – sex.

You probably could have guessed that, couldn’t you? The fact that sex makes people happy is hardly a ground-breaking discovery, but the fact that people openly admitted it and talked about it is a little more surprising. However, sex has increasingly become a more open subject around many groups, whether it’s a wife telling her husband how she will surprise him in the bedroom or strangers online sharing sexual health tips. Sex has become normalized to an extent, where just a handful of people can now look at it as a taboo or so.

Sex (perhaps as a result of pheromones attraction, or otherwise) was closely followed by drinking alcohol and volunteering. Other Top 10 appearances are made by activities such as listening to music, hobbies, and gaming.

So, it appears that if you’re feeling unhappy, you need to have sex. And if that’s not a possibility, then watch a sexy nurse get fucked by a patient or something like that.

What is truly shocking, though, is the Bottom 10.

At No. 1 here was “Recovering from Sickness.” Perhaps this is understandable. Pain is rarely pleasure.

Beneath Facebook, there were more mundane and obvious sources of depression such as housework, commuting, and washing.
