Is it a bad thing if an ethnic group wants a school of its own?
Opponents of charter schools argue that there is something that is wrong when an thenic group sponsors a charter even though the law requires such schools to be open to all kids. I think the liberals’ concerns is patronizing … secretly they think black parents can not sponsor a great school. Well, maybe Jewish parents can not either!

Brooklyn, NY – After only 22 of its 60 third-grade students passed last spring’s state math and reading tests, Brooklyn’s New American Academy has put its planned expansion for a middle school on hold.
The NEW YORK DAILY NEWS (http://nydn.us/1aZjdpw) reports that after the disappointing test results, school officials said they are delaying their plans to have a middle school up and running by next fall.
Founded in 2010 by renowned Hasidic educator Shimon Waronker, who currently serves as headmaster, New American Academy has garnered much publicity for its innovative approach, calling itself a “21st century schoolhouse” by assembling 60 students in a single one-room learning center.
