| Pyongyang, August 13 (KCNA) — Three decades have passed since a ceremony took place to unveil the Arch of Triumph to convey down through generations the personality of President Kim Il Sung as a great man who returned in triumph to Korea after liberating it. Nearly 40,000 organizations and delegations and a total of more than 1.48 million people have visited it over the last three decades since its erection.More than 80,000 people visited the Arch of Triumph in 1982 alone, the year of its erection. The visitors said in excited tones that they seemed to hear the cheers from all the Koreans praising Kim Il Sung who returned in triumph after liberating Korea through the bloody war against the Japanese imperialists. Conspicuous in the majestic arch are numbers of “1925” and “1945”. Before the group sculptures there, visitors keenly realized it was thanks to Generalissimo Kim Il Sung, a peerlessly great man, that the DPRK turned into a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence. Watching the immortal revolutionary hymn “Song of General Kim Il Sung” and Mt. Paektu, the sacred mountain of revolution, that stand out in bold relief, they looked back on the leadership exploits of leader Kim Jong Il who made sure that the song praising the sun was selected as its main theme and led the erection of the monument with meticulous care. More than 380,000 foreigners, overseas Koreans and south Koreans visited it. Heads of parties, states and governments and prominent figures from different countries of the world and overseas Koreans were unsparing in their praises of the President, expressing their admiration at the magnificent Arch of Triumph. It will tower high forever, conveying the immortal exploits performed by Generalissimo Kim Il Sung for liberating Korea to posterity. |
