Al Jazeera America’s August 20th launch is just 11 days away 1 day, and we have some exciting updates for you! This week, we announced several new additions to the Al Jazeera America team.
Most recently, Emmy Award–winning journalists John Seigenthaler and David Shuster joined us. John will anchor our prime-time evening news coverage from our New York studios. He brings a wealth of experience covering international, national and local stories in his more than 30 years in journalism and was the anchor of “NBC Nightly News” for nine years.
David, most recently a correspondent at Current TV, will also be one of our New York anchors. David’s extensive experience before Current includes MSNBC, Fox News and CNN. About joining Al Jazeera America, he said, “The organization’s fearless efforts to give a voice to the voiceless have always struck a chord in me. It’s an honor to help carry on that unique mission on an American channel and for an American audience.”
Earlier this week, we made the following announcements:
- Neal Scarbrough and Jeff Green will lead our sports unit.
- We have launched an in-house documentary unit, which will be led by Kathy Davidov and Cynthia Kane.
- Patricia Sabga, Duarte Geraldino and Stacey Tisdale have joined us as correspondents on “Real Money with Ali Velshi.”
