Norm., with all due respect, your post opposing free trade is way over the top.
Free trade agreements SHOULD be a liberal cause. NAFTA, by every measure I have seen, has benefited all three countries. Workers in Canada..or Mexico are people too.
Protectionism benefits only those wealthy enough to move their capital to the most productive country.
If MO wants to make this an issue, the fight ought to be to assure a workers rights in all countries in the trade block. A good place to start might be by boycotting companies who use foreign sweatshops or subsidize human labor costs with polluting fuels.
We .. Americans ..have been here before. Northern Democrats opposed abolition because they were afraid of freed slaves taking “white” jobs. MO should not mimic the Northern Democrats of 1865!
