Today saw the seventh consecutive nights of rioting growing from the immigrant community in Sweden . The Telegraph describes one long term Swede, Mr Mohammed Abbas,questioning the Swedish social model’s preference for the carrot over the stick. Many Swedes were left asking why a country that prides itself on a generous welfare state, liberal social attitudes and a welcoming attitude towards immigrants should ever have race riots in the first place.
Sweden’s poicy of support for immigration has been a wodner, yet I wonder how far it can go.? The posicyn itself reflects Sweden’s unique culture. Can Sweden be Sweden when immigrants rightly want to continue their own ways?
Tolerance and individual freedm may not mix. Look at nearby Oslo 
Like Sweden, Norwat prides itself in tolerance. This Norwegian city is the home for Norway’s only synagogue. The Jews, including my own daughter, live in a very tolerant country. Whatever thier history in WWII, today’s blond Norwegians take pride in being open ot my people … even thoihg few of us meet the Scanadanavian archetypical blondness.
Yet even here the synagogue is behind the barriers .. not to protect it from traditional blond Norwegians but from people who, I suppose are “of color.” Of course Jews are not people of color, so this is not an issue of Norwegian racism .. unless one considers the rights of the blonds, the Norwegians, to precipice their culture of tolerance.
The concept of People of Color is deeply flawed.
