Is China for real?
It is time for child to stop pretending that it is an impoverished hermit community.
China’s most obvious vassal is North Korea. China is the adult and like any adult needs to take responsibility when North Korea throws a tantrum, steals something from a neighbor, or threatens violence against other people.
So now we read that the Foreign Minister of China, Yang Jeichi, has called the ambassador from North Korea for a reprimand. Kim Jung Un, has gone and blown up an atomic bomb just 62 miles from the Chinese border! And then, North Korea has bragged that they had miniaturized this device so they can place it on the tip of a rocket able to destroy Washington DC.
A statement from China’s Foreign Ministry reports that “Yang Jiechi demanded that the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea side cease talk that further escalates the situation and swiftly return to the correct channel of dialogue and negotiation,”
This sounds to me pretty much like Mama telling her delinquent child that they need to take a timeout and, if their behavior does not improve mama would get very, very mad.
If China is really ready to assume its role as a coequal world power with the United States, then China should show that it can force North Korea to behave itself.
