Zipcars go to Avis

The global car hire firm Avis Budget has agreed to buy Zipcar, the world’s biggest car-sharing firm, for $500m 

Why is this inevitable ?  Insurgents find a better way to do something, get bought up and then (I will bet) chopped up.
