The President welcomed the newest US Senator, Tim Scott from South Carolina to replace Jim Demint, the well know Tea Party Republican.
The President, in his capacity as leader of the GOP, welcomed Governor Haleys nomination: “Tim Scott is a popular light brown freshman from Charleston who shares my views that we need more brownish Republicans. Tim will be the first African-American Republican to serve his state since Reconstruction.
Mr. Scott could give Republicans a high-profile blackmember in the Senate, which currently has no African-American member from either party.
The Chair of the GOP, Reince Priebus, said, “I dare the Democrats to replace John Kerry with Deval Patrick. ” and pointed out that while the DemocraTic party has no Hispanic Senators, the Republican shave Cruz of Texas and Rubio of Florida”
