In this AM’s email was a request for MoveOn member to join a “work party.”
I was happy to see the subject line because I have been very upset with the way MoveOn and other liberal forces melted away after 2008. In contrast, right ..with the mighty media cudgel of NewsCorp and the Koch funded Tea Party, continuously tended its grass roots …. giving us the current congressional mess.
Then I read the message:
We can use all the help we can get at tomorrow’s work party for our Overpass Light Brigade sign construction and fish puppets. We begin at 6 PM at the Fremont Abbey Art Center at N 43rd St and Fremont Av N. Join the fun.
Will some one tell MoveOn that “fun” is not why people join political movements? Obama won not because of some liberal resurgence but because his campaign outclassed Romney’s. If we want to “win” 2012 the local activists need to spend their effort not on fish puppets but on building a coalition that will be here in 21014.
