Leaving aside the drama of our Presidential politics, WASTATE is also eelcting an Attorney General. The race is between two lawyers … Bob Ferguson and Reagan Dunn.
My question is why do we need either one?
The Federal Government does not have an elected AG. Why can’t we hire the best lawyer the state can afford and get them to serve us as a carear … you know like Microsoft hire an attorney? Or if the the AG works for the Goc then she can hire one like she hires the rest of agency heads.
We hire folks to run our state computers, maybe we should also elect the WASTATE CIO?
Getting to be AG has NOTHING to do with ability as an attorney. If Bill Gates wanted to buy the AG office for his sister in law, Mr. Gates could likely do that!
If Ichiro Suzuki took out US citizenship, after a few night school courses, we could even have a Japanese AG!
Personally, I think the state should makr more important jobs elective.
