DARCY BURNER continues to fire at the wrong targets.

Darcy Burner for Congress
I got this email today from Darcy.

While I share her concerns, I am not at all convinced that her stand is the best way to move voters in the new 1st District.

Someone needs to tell Darcy that her goal is to beat John Koster.

My concerns are in blue italics.

The beltway pundits and the national media are waiting with baited breath for the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Affordable Care Act. Predictions are flying and the air is filled with chatter about political winners and losers, about how this affects the horseraces in November.

What isn’t being discussed enough is how our healthcare system ought to work.

Do we think that access to lifesaving healthcare is a privilege which should be reserved for a few, with everyone else left to die? There are Republicans who believe that. I think they’re wrong.

Obviously this is right on!

Most Americans want to be sure that they can see their doctor when they need to, and they’re just hoping their insurance company doesn’t get in the way or make it too expensive. They want to know that their care will be covered if they get sick, that their family won’t go bankrupt, and that they’ll still be able to afford their healthcare even if they get laid off or change jobs. We need to make sure that there’s a family doctor for every family, and that no man, woman, or child should ever have to go without healthcare because they can’t afford it.

And while people are choosing how to proceed, they should have at least one option that the insurance companies don’t control.

I fought for the public option when the Affordable Care Act was being debated in Congress, and I will fight to make it possible for every American to buy at cost into a plan like Medicare where you choose your own doctor, you are covered for prescriptions and preventive coverage, and you won’t be denied because of a previous illness or a hidden ceiling. We need to make sure that every American has at least one good choice for how to get healthcare.

Not so good.  The problem here is that Darcy, once again, is coming out against President Obama.  Leaving aside that there is no public option in the legislation before the Supreme Court and the simple fact that no one has explained how a public option would be achieved within the current horrid mess of American medicine.

No one should have to choose between putting food on the table and going to see their doctor.

While we wait to see what the Supreme Court decides – and what our next move will be – let’s not forget that this is just the beginning. Working together we can build a better country.

Please help support my campaign with a $14 donation today so that we can show voters a better way forward.
