While the Democrats in WASTATE have declared charter schools as heresy, the very troubled Rainier Beach High School is retasking itself as a part of the International Baccalaureate program, very much a charter school effort! Meanwhile, the leftish Seattle Education Blog disses the League of Education Voters (LEV) efforts at promoting charters as hurting rather than helping the community that they purport they are trying to assist.
It is worth noting NO Seattle school made the list of top US pubic high schools. The list did contain central city high schools from cities with far more ethnic underclass students: Washington DC, Dallas, Chicago, LA, Tucson, Boston, Baltimore, Oklahoma City, Sebastopol CA, Kansas City, Erie, the Bronx, Houston, New York City, Rochester NY, Cincinnati, and Philadelphia all made the list with schools that focus on academic excellence. Even Sanford FLA, home to Trayvon Martin, made the list!
Only two schools in WASTATE made the list, both are in that mecca of uoscale wealth, Bellevue.
