$10,000 per member NRA Dues?

Last December, day before the funerals of the last  three children killed in Newtown Connecticut, Wayne LaPierre suggested  we protect the kids by putting armed guards in the schools.

Great idea!  Lets see what it would cost:

The Us has about 100,000 public schools.  Lets guess each would need three armed guards … rather like a good sized local bank!  Hmm at $60,000  .. that is only $12 billion!

BUT … should the government only guard public elementary, middle and high schools?  Surely private school kids are entitled to the same protection?  lets guess that is only another $8 billion!

BUT … shouldn’t we also protect preschools?  What about playfields? boy scouts? and amusement parks!  My back of the envelope protector puts that tab at another $12 billion

This is not so much (only about three times what the National Institutes of Health budget is!),  I do worry though about the home schooled kids?  I guess there ay be safety in low numbers?

Since the NRA claims to have 4.3 million members, I would assume each of these would be willing to pay a gun tax of about $10,000 to cover Mr. LaPierre’s scheme?

Of course these folks would mainly come from the unemployed security guards and laid-off police officers LaPierre wants to hire .. a jobs bill!
