Seattle is a city with almost no open bigotry … at least none of the usual stuff about being dark-skinned or gay. We do have our own issues of course … we sure do a good job of hiding any evidence of Chief Seattle or his descendents.
What really bothers me is our self segregation. Look at this nice picture of students from Garfield … a largely African-American school … protesting cuts to the school budget. Do you notice anything wrong?
This sure does not look like the kids I see coming our of GHS. or much like the GHS basketball team either. This looks like the students in the advanced placement classes (a strength of Garfield) got together to protest.
I wonder why the editor at the Times did not notice something wrong?
