Albany, NY – A group of State senators are backing legislation that could prevent doctors from wearing neckties. Declaring ties ‘deadly,’ the Senators have proposed a bill to form a 25-member advisory council that would be charged with developing a hygienic dress code for medical professionals, one that could ban neckties.
The senators, all part of the Independent Democratic Conference, expressed concern about the germs on neckties that can be transmitted to patients. The senators also addressed the issue of doctors wearing dangly earrings and long-sleeve lab coats.
According to the IDC, a hygienic dress code would save lives and cut down on medical lawsuits. more here.
