Organizers of the tent city protest in Tel Aviv that started a nationwide movement called on Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu to strike down the national housing committees law, as a precondition for dialogue with protest leaders.
During a press conference held in Tel Aviv on Sunday, protest organizers called on Netanyahu to remove the law from the Knesset’s agenda, arguing that it would be detrimental to the cause of affordable housing for the Israeli public. The law, which Netanyahu has touted as a means to lower real estate prices would streamline the process by which land is approved for construction. Opponents say it would only free up more land for private developers to build over-priced housing. more at Jerusalem Post
