At Cornell Hood’s one-day trial, the evidence presented by the prosecution included a digital scale and about a dozen bags that had contained marijuana before being seized from the house, testimony showed. Jurors deliberated for less than two hours and convicted Hood of a reduced charge, which usually carries no more than 15 years’ imprisonment. Assistant District Attorney Nick Noriea Jr. then used Hood’s past convictions on Thursday to extend that to life imprisonment .

The entire MJ issue is nuts. The Medical Marijuana crowd want the stuff made declared a medicine.. regardless of the medical evidence. The anti marijuana crowd desperately looks for evidence that the stuff is even harmful. Look at this another way … Louisiana has just contracted to provide Mr. Hood with suopport for the rest of his life. This is stupid.
For those who think this sort of bizarre punishment is a good idea, let them pay for it! I suggest a sur tax tied to the costs of three strikes you are out! That way, when some court makes a sentence like this, the COST would be assessed on all the electorate.
Watch how quickly opro9secutors stop pulling this sort of crap!
