Are Cuts to the Core Academic Mission Necessary?
Howard Bunsis, Professor of Accounting, Eastern Michigan University, will give a talk Wednesday, April 20, at 3:30 PM in Smith 304 in which he presents an analysis of the University of Washington’s financial condition. His presentation should be of interest to all who wish to be better-informated about upcoming budgetary decisions and proposed cuts to the University’s educational programs:
“The Financial Condition of the University of Washington: Are Cuts to the Core Academic Mission Necessary?”
Prof. Bunsis will ask: What is the Financial Condition of the University of Washington? What is the financial evidence that additional budget cuts need to be made? Will the decline in State appropriations and the loss of federal stimulus dollars have detrimental effects on the UW moving forward?
Prof. Bunsis received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the Wharton School of Business, Univ. Pennsylvania, a J.D. degree from Fordham Law School, and an MBA and Ph.D. in Accounting from the Univ. of Chicago. Prof. Bunsis specializes in the analysis of university finances and labor contracts.
